Kingspan Light+Air Building Automation

Visualization of the fire protection technology in the Grand Tower, Frankfurt am Main

The Kingspan Group is the world’s leading provider of complete system solutions for buildings and Kingspan Light + Air specifically offers system solutions for lighting, natural ventilation and exhaust systems, as well as roof drainage.

Our task in this project was the gateway technology and visualization of the currently tallest residential tower in Germany with the ARIGO Framework RUMO 4.0.

Concept

In high-rise buildings such as the Grand Tower, actively controlled smoke control pressure assemblies (RDAs), also called positive pressure ventilation assemblies, are mandatory. The Kingspan | STG-Beikirch RDA system, which is based on a safety-oriented LonWorks bus, switches the system to alarm mode and regulates the differential pressure as soon as smoke is detected by a detector.

Via three embedded DRC-02 gateways running the ARIGO Framework RUMO 4.0, the states of approx. 150 pressure sensors, the control of approx. 300 ventilation, fire protection and smoke extraction dampers, as well as the control of redundant supply air and exhaust fans are forwarded via an IoT protocol to a central server, on which the ARIGO Framework RUMO 4.0 is also installed. There, all data is recorded, monitored and visualized.

Technology

Communication: Ethernet and Lon FTT-10
Protocol: LonWorks, JSON-REST, SMTP
Hardware: DRC-02, DELL Power Edge Linux Server

Advantages

These extensive monitoring functions ensure that all legally required safety requirements are met at all times.
