HOPPECKE Batterien GmbH & Co. KG

Automated operation of automated guided vehicles

HOPPECKE is Europe’s largest manufacturer of industrial battery systems and represents the vision of making electrical energy available to everyone, everywhere.
Our task in this project was to install and set up our ARIGO Framework 4.0 on the cloud-enabled charging station and data management system HOPPECKE trak | monitor 4.0.

Enabling completely automated operation of driverless transport systems

As with many tasks in industry, systems and solutions are improved and expanded on an evolutionary basis. This means that, if possible, previous versions should be taken into account and upgraded by new developments without having to dispose of too much of the existing equipment.
This was also the conceptual requirement on the part of Hoppecke. Already partially networked systems, which were previously only able to communicate locally with limited functionality, have now been expanded to include global networking. Now many new functions result from “cloud applications”.
ARIGO was able to create completely new applications with the help of the highly flexible Rumo 4.0 framework and thus lay the foundation for new business cases.

  • Bluetooth
  • OPC-UA

Immediate customer benefits:

Cost savings for the end customer through

  • Prolongation of the usable battery life (by preventing shortfalls)
  • Higher degree of utilization of the existing battery pool
  • Savings in maintenance costs (through reduced service calls)
  • Increased operational safety (through reduced risk of injury)
  • Concentration on core business (through fully automated processes)
  • Protection of investment through optimum battery operation and battery charging using HOPPECKE technology
  • Saving of resources through fully automated battery change in the charging station
  • Greater economic efficiency through increased transparency
  • Minimization of downtimes (improved planning of charging times leads to maximum availability of the vehicle pool)
  • Early detection of problems (through detailed information on battery and system status)
  • Reduction of downtimes
  • Reduction of maintenance costs for battery servicing and maintenance

Long-term benefits for the provider:

  • Development of a completely new business field “pay per use”; It is now possible to sell performance units instead of direct equipment sales with an accompanying service.
  • Good customer loyalty and high satisfaction
  • Lower capital investment for the customer
  • Increased profitability for the provider
